ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE AND THE CHURCH OF SAINT MARTIN

The archaeological site, located next to the church of St. Martina na Ivinje, is located at the bottom of the Pirovački canal. There are three dominant groups of archaeological and historical layers on the site. The earliest phase is the ancient villa rustica, then the early Christian three-nave church with a baptistery, and then the medieval cemetery connected to the church of St. Martin. This archaeological site is one of the most valuable archaeological sites in Dalmatia, considering the large number of finds from different historical layers. The site was investigated and expertly preserved, and the Archaeological Collection of St. Martina, which is located in the basement of the villa Katunarić in Tisno, in order to bring the importance of such a site closer to the local population, as well as tourists.
